What is Logistics?

Logistics refers to similar processes such as transportation, storage, packaging, customs clearance and distribution from the first manufacturer of a product to the end consumer. Another definition is to provide the right product, in the right place, at the right time, in the right quantity, in the right way, in the right quality, at a price that is in the right household. Logistics as defined by the Council of Supply Chain Manahment Professionals (CSCMP), the world’s largest logistics organization; "It is the process of planning, supervising and implementing the procedures necessary for the effective and efficient transport and storage of all products and important information, including services, from the point of origin to the point of destination, in line with the needs of the customer." When we consider these explanations, we can talk about logistics in all products; food bought from the market (the food coming to the market from the manufacturer is part of the logistics), the pants you buy from the store (customs clearance of the yarn bought from abroad is a part of logistics). In short, logistics is an extremely important element in absolutely every aspect of our lives.

Pre-Production Logistics

It is the name given to all of the logistics processes up to the production stage of the logistics company.

Production Logistics

It is a set of logistics activities that take place within the production facility in our facility.

Post-Production Logistics

It is the whole of the logistics processes after the production is finished in our facility.

Logistics Outsourcing

For various reasons such as cost or efficiency, companies give all or part of their logistics activities to companies that have become professionals in this regard. For example, wouldn't a company with domestic or international shipments want to have a ship of its own and carry out international sea transportation with this ship? Whatever the answer to this question, there is one thing that is obvious to the answer, and that is that not every company will have a ship to successfully carry out international maritime transportation, and in the same way, not every company can have an internal transportation company that will distribute to every city of Turkey at the same time. In such a case, only for reasons such as cost and efficiency, companies transfer some or all of their logistics activities to specialized companies and this is called "logistics outsourcing." A company that acts in this way also increases internal productivity by focusing on its own specific business.

Supply Chain Management

The process involved in logistics is called supply chain management by organizing it to cover all company events and taking it to further stages. In other words, Supply Chain Management; It is a flow with a wider range of logistics, essentially coordinating the logistics with the company's relationships with other processes.
